Art Therapy For Groups - M. Liebmann

The starting point of this book was my own experience as a member of several groups and the leader of others. I had always been interested in art, and became more and more interested in its potential for the communication of personal matters. I became a staff member at an experimental day centre for adult ex-offenders, and ran sessions there, and also ran day events for church groups and the local encounter centre. At the same time I attended any group art sessions within reach to gain more personal experience. I began to compile a list of games, structures, themes—call them what you will—that other group leaders used, and added them to ones that I or my groups invented. I also became very

curious about groups and the structures they used, and how these influenced what went on in the groups.
